If you're an author, you need a website. Period. Websites are the fastest, easiest, and cheapest marketing tool out there to promote your writing projects. Even if you have social media sites that you use to promote your books, you still need a website to serve as the central hub of information for marketing your books.
If you don't have a website, or if your website is really outdated, this class is for you. We'll discuss the reasons why every author needs a website, then I'll walk you through all of the steps necessary to create effective content for your website. We will discuss the basics of website design, the required elements for any author website, optional elements that will enhance your marketing efforts, and much more. Each lesson will guide you through different aspects of effective author websites, then assignments at the end of each lesson will guide you through creating great content for your own website. This course consists of lecture slides, hands-on demonstrations, and supplemental material you can read at any time.

This class does not cover how to actually set up your website, although I do show you some basics of how to use WordPress. When you finish this class, you will have all of the text you need to plug into your new website as well as an outline for the pages you want to include on your website.
I love books and love to read! I'm the founder of Rocket City Books, a small publishing company dedicated to publishing quality books and providing outstanding training resources for writers and authors.
I have more than 25 years of experience working as a professional writer and editor. I've written magazine articles for national publications such as Fine Gardening. I've written 1,000 page manuals for software companies and marketing materials for telecommunication firms. I've designed and written copy for dozens of websites.
However, my real passion has always been books. I've written my own books, and I've also helped clients design and create beautiful books of their own. My book Fern Cave about the history of the discovery and exploration of my favorite cave in Alabama received very positive reviews and won a silver medal in the Independent Book Publisher's Association annual book competition for small publishers.
I have years of experience in the writing and publishing world. I'm passionate about helping self-published authors create incredible books and helping authors succeed.
